What Have You Done At Home?

If you have done some work at home or have something to tell your friends about what you enjoy, please leave a comment on this page, or tell everyone when you come into school. If you have a photo of something special you have done that you want to share please bring it in so that we can desplay it on this page for the rest of the class to look at. If you have not yet signed the permission slip allowing us to use pictures on this page, please consider doing so. The page is only likely to be accessed by parents and it allows you at home to see first hand the kind of things we are doing in school.

Next Week’s Theme: Looking After Our Class

We will be learning about keeping our class and the environment tidy and clean next week. Do the children help to tidy up at home? I will ask children during the week what they do to help mum and dad. Encourage the children to tidy up their toys so that when they come to school they know what to do with our toys in class. We are trying to do this in school too – so that the children learn to look after the things they have. We will be talking about children who are not as lucky as they are and asking the class to appreciate the resources they have available to them.

Road Safety with the Road Safety Man

Last week we were visited by a member of the Birmingham Road Safety Team. He showed the children how to keep safe on the road, how to use pedestrian crossings safely and how important it is to use a child or booster seat when travelling by car. Every one in the class was concentrating very carefully and they learned a lot. They were able to take home a safety work book. If they finish their work the children can bring the book back into school to show theur friends. Anyone who brings back their book will get a sticker!

Safety Week

Last week the children were learning about staying safe in many different situations. They watched an assembly about keeping safe while using the computer and during the afternoons had the choice of many differnt activities designed to make them think about how to make sure they did not hurt themselves at home or at school. Some children made toast and then used a knife very carefully to spread butter. They also thought about the dangers of electricity in the home and sorted out things they thought used electricity and those that did not. Outside, the children had to sign their own ‘driving licence’ in order to use the bikes and trikes and dangerous driving earned them points on their licence! Luckily, there was only two cases of drivers being banned.
